Join SDI in partnership with Spit it Out for an online documentary film masterclass with French screenwriter and director Sébastien Lifshitz. His work explores intimacy, gender and sexuality with sensibility and nuance. He delves into the inner lives of his protagonists and ventures beyond appearances to understand their relationship to identity and society.

Previous Work

The Invisible Ones (2012) tells the story of ageing homosexual couples who bear witness to a life of disobedience; Bambi (2013) portrays the trajectory of one of the first transsexual music-hall stars in Paris; while Adolescents (2019) follows two young girls struggling to remain friends through their turbulent teenage years. His latest documentary Little Girl (2020) is a groundbreaking portrait of a young trans girl, and the family’s struggle for acceptance in the face of bigotry and bureaucracy.
