Documentary Masterclass: S. Leo Chiang

Join us for an online masterclass with S. Leo Chiang, a filmmaker based in San Francisco and Taipei, on Friday 22 January, 2 – 4pm, via Zoom.

Leo will be in discussion with SDI's Director, Noe Mendelle and will show clips from his films, before answering questions from attendees.

Leo will not only discuss Our Time Machine, but will also touch on his previous films, including the Emmy Award-nominated A Village Called Versailles, Out Run, Mr. Cao Goes to Washington and To You Sweetheart, Aloha.

S. Leo Chiang's innovative new film, Our Time Machine, has played at over 50 film festivals worldwide, winning 12 awards. The film focuses on artist Maleonn who, shaken by the news of his father’s dementia, creates “Papa’s Time Machine,” a wondrous time-travel adventure performed on stage with life-size mechanical puppets. Through the play’s production, he confronts his own mortality. Maleonn finds grace and unexpected joy in this moving meditation on art, the agonies of love and loss, and the circle of life.

We will send out links to both the Zoom event and the full version of Our Time Machine to all those who RSVP to this Masterclass.
