Documentary filmmaking in Kenya - Coffee Morning with Docubox

Join SDI and Docubox for a conversation about documentary filmmaking in Kenya and the making of the Kenya Stories films with the filmmakers.

By RSVPing to the event you will receive the Zoom link to join us on the day.

Kenya Stories includes five short films shot in five different corners of Kenya by local filmmakers in their local language, mentored by SDI and Docubox in a hybrid training and development programme. The films will have their World Premiere at Aesthetica Film Festival as part of the Guest Programme (available online, 2-30 November 2021).

Over the hour, we will chat about the challenges of filming in rural Kenya, of developing stories and working with protagonists. We will also hear from Docubox and the work they do to support and promote East African filmmakers.

Guest speakers: from Docubox: Judy Kibinge and Angela Price and filmmakers Caroline Akai and Artsy Solomon.

DOCUBOX operates the East African Documentary Film Fund and support talented, driven, focused and accountable East African artists to produce unique films that unearth new realities and cross trans-national boundaries.

Through training, development and production grants, screenings for people who love documentary films, they promote East African filmmakers and share their unique stories with the world through creative documentary.
