Masterclass with curator, record collector, creative director and filmmaker Rita Maia.

Best known as an international club DJ and broadcaster, Rita Maia is also a curator, record collector, creative director and filmmaker. She has recently co-directed LISBON BEAT – Batida de Lisboa. The film was selected at IndieLisboa’19 and Sheffield Doc/Fest’19, among other festivals, and will be the Opening film of the 7th edition of IberoDocs, the Ibero-American Documentary Film Festival in Scotland

Originally from Lisbon, with a family background from Goa, India, and based in London, Rita’s Worldwide FM show Migrant Sounds showcases new artists from around the world from the new UK dance floor urban movements in electronic & Jazz while also bringing forward music from the emerging scenes in the African countries of Portuguese language.

This masterclass is part of the 7th edition of IberoDocs, the Ibero-American Documentary Film Festival in Scotland (26 FEB – 15 MARCH) and it has been brought to you with the support of Scottish Documentary Institute, Camões – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua and the University of Edinburgh.
